This was my first time learning that he had his own place which further infuriated me! “I begged your black ass for months to let’s get our own place but you claimed like we couldn’t afford it!”

“We couldn’t afford the places that you wanted! You wanted to live out there in the fancy ass white folks neighborhood! You wanted an apartment with over eight hundred dollar rent! At the same time you wanted to spend your entire paycheck at the mall on them lil slutty ass outfits, getting your nails and hair done and buying shoes and shit! I told you, you want a whole lot of shit Meechie but you don’t want to sacrifice shit for it or work for it! To keep it real you want a free fucking ride just like most motherfuckas but remember ain’t shit free! In one way or another you’re paying for it!”

I’m not trying to hear this bullshit that he is saying. “You know what, leaving your ass was the best move that I’ve ever made! Now I have the nice place that I’ve always wanted with brand new furniture throughout the entire place, I’m driving a 2011 Nissan Maxima, and I stays fly! I’ve been quit that raggedy ass job at Walmart! I have a real man now, one who doesn’t bitch and complain about what he can’t do or what he can’t afford. He gets out and makes shit happen! As a matter of fact we just got back from Miami!”

He stands here looking unaffected but I know that my words have hit a nerve whether he shows it or not. “As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Now if you don’t mind, I have to go to work. I appreciate you bringing the car though so now I don’t have to walk out here in this hot ass sun to the bus stop.” He lets out a chuckle. “I might couldn’t afford a 2011 Nissan Maxima but this beat up ass Camry kept your ungrateful ass from walking a many of days! I get it though, Meechie. You want the finest things that money can buy. Ain’t nothing wrong with that babygirl…nothing at all. Just remember that the best things in life are priceless.”

I roll my eyes. “Whatever!”

“You have a good day now.”

“Trust me, I will!” I say with much attitude! He walks over to the Camry and gets in and drives off.
